I got the pleasure of photographing a 5 day old baby girl on Saturday. I will be doing newborn thru 1 year photos for the family. I used 2 5D "classics" with the 35mm f2 and 85mm 1.8.

There are a lot of highlights showing over-exposure. If you shoot RAW, you can easily take those highlights down.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Nice job, David. Looks like you're gaining some traction on the family market in Knoxville.

Some do look a little hot, but it could be a stylistic thing and I don't think it detracts from the images.

Nice set!
#2 & #3 look a little odd to me though. #2 looks like they are pressing on the baby trying to give it CPR. #3 is an awkward angle for me.

Also, try some ring shots with the rings, or just the engagement ring, on the baby's foot hanging on a toe

last one is my favorite by far ! There is something with the second as it does not "fit" with the others

Love the light process feel of the shots !, awesome work !

Thanks Kenneth, getting there. I have a family here that has thrown me a lot of business so far, so hopefully things will keep expanding.

The baby was only 5 days old, so there was a ton of touchup on the skin that needed to be done. Exposure was lifted on most to give a "delicate" feel to the photos (hopefully anyways).

Thanks for the feedback. #2 was a Pinterest idea from the mom. I personally like it since it gives a bit of scale. The hands look pretty relaxed, not like they are bracing for CPR, but I guess I could see where you are coming from.

Thanks for the feedback! Probably the introduction of the parents' hands that makes it feel different. Glad you like the processing, these required a ton of skin touchup, but I wanted to keep a delicate feel as mentioned above.
