This was taken at Purisima Creek Redwoods Park, about 20 minutes from my house. I've been hiking here a lot over the last six months and the drought here in California has really done a number on the water level in the creek. This was taken in December 2014 just after we had a good weeks worth of rain. I was hiking along the trail above the creek and realized that for the first time in a while I could actually hear the flow of water. I scrambled down and took this shot. It's such a magical place and I lost track of time, forgetting that I still had a good 3 miles to get to the trailhead, and I just made it before it got dark.

Beautiful! I love the clarity, depth and colour of this shot. The serenity of the place captured perfectly.

Nice scene and timing! I would like to have seen a slightly different perspective to pull the foreground into the shot. Maybe getting closer to the water.

Thanks CL. I did try a number of different comps here, including setting up in the water and on the other side of the water. This one seemed to work the best.

Glad to see you are back, looking forward to seeing some of your great PNW stuff.
