It sounds like its no problem to clean it with what comes to mind anyway :) So thanks for all responds!

i only clean my tripod and take it apart when i have been at places like the beach or back packing,it seems the sand dirt seem to find its way in the little places so i take it apart and clean with dish washing stuff and let it stand and dry and after that i will re grace all the fittings,mind you i only do this so often maybe 3 times a year depending what and where i shoot.
