Your work looks good! You know your market but I think you're charging too little.

I know.. I want to charge more, but part of it is I haven't been doing this as long, and also the market here is just lower.

I'm working to build my portfolio and take on more customers that will spread my name, word of mouth.

San Antonio has a cheap market? I find that odd. I just moved to Houston from Columbia, SC, and I raised my prices a little bit. I've only been here less than a month, so I haven't been booking that many sessions yet. I do see many photographers here charging similar to what you charge (or under) but I refuse to brand myself as a "budget photographer". Your work is much better than the similarly priced photographers I've seen so far here in Houston btw.

Thank You, I appreciate that... I think so too, but being still somewhat new, I'm still trying to get my name out there. I'm afraid if I raise my prices, I may not get the jobs. Then again, maybe I will, but who knows. This year I really want to market myself more and spend some money to get the larger clients.

Well good luck. I'd love to know how it's going. I am trying to figure out this Texas photography market thing too.

I just wanted to add one small additional suggestion. I like the look of your website. Clean and to the point but I do wish the images on your home page were a bit bigger. It's the first thing people see, so you would want the images to make an impact. That's just my two cents but I do like the overall look of it :-)

Thanks.. I've been trying to change them where they are a touch bigger. Also, right now when you click on them, it makes them spotlighted and bigger, but I wish it would do that, and take you to that section of the portfolio, but I'm not sure it can do both.

I've been thinking of maybe going to a homepage that had a single full page image, or one that maybe flipped two or three. Humm..

I agree. I think full page images would be best but I would include your best shots to display on the home page. Maybe about 10 or so. Even the images you currently have would work well. I think it'll give people a good idea of the type of work that you do.

I don't know what host you are using but if you look around in their help forums they usually have the answers there.

Using Zenfolio... They have a couple other themes I may try, I don't know yet, ha.
