24-105L red ring broke -_-

And now the image quality sucks...:-D (just kidding)

I don't really care, but I know this is pretty common with the 24-105L and it's finally happened to mine. Opened the camera bag and one part of the red ring had randomly snapped. Looks like it's only glued down in 2-3 spots so the ring was sticking out like an open handcuff.

Taped it down for now to hold it in place, but the question is...do I rip that sucker off for a stealthy look or repair it with a tiny dab of super glue?

Not sure this lens deserves "L" designation anyway :p

I guess it would be personal preference. The replacement cost of getting a new ring is cost prohibitive to just have a red ring or one to advertise their lens. If mine broke off, I would not be gluing it back to the lens. I would break it off and go stealth. Perhaps it would then become less attractive to thief looking to make a quick buck.

Yeah there's no way I'm paying Canon to replace a cosmetic component. That said, I'm assuming the red ring contributes nothing to the lens' weather sealing.
