I've just reinstalled CS6 Bridge/Photoshop on Windows 10 preview. Previously I could view my Sony RX100 files fine in Bridge, they rendered properly. Now they don't.

In W10 I've run all the auto updates, one of them fails - the Adobe Application Manager. I manually updated ACR from 7.0 to 7.1, which meant 5DIII files were viewable, but not RX100. When you go to the Adobe site and try to download anything beyond ACR 7.1 it just tells you to download the DNG converter. I've installed the DNG converter, which I know is a workaround, but it's not ideal.

I know CS6 can be updated so it can view RX100 files natively but I can't work out how. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I think I should be able to update to ACR 8.7, I won't get all the new features but it should work in CS6 according to my reading (external link).

Tim,

I had a similar problem recently when I wanted to update to ACR 8.7 in CS6 and the Adobe Application Manager Update failed.

I ended up having to run the Adobe Application Manager update with full Administrator Rights (even though my normal user is an Admin).

I do not recall if I switched to my Administrator user account or Right Mouse clicked on the icon Adobe Application Manager Icon and selected 'Run as Administrator'

Hope that may provide a glimmer of hope

Thanks for the thought Graham, unfortunately it didn't help :(

Is it possible to download ACR directly any more, or do you have to use auto update?

Here's an interesting screen shot of the update process..

LOL that is funny (the 175% part; not the fact you are having issues...)

It does seem there are a few download sites with ACR 8.7 so you may be lucky there.

I am just glad I did not have to through Adobe support like I did last time Update Manager stopped working for me.

Tim, This link does mention both DNG and ACR in the filename description in the download box (about halfway down the page) so maybe it's both? I seem to remember they used to put both in the same download (?)

I find it helpful to close down Photoshop while the update is downloading. The update will continue on it's own.

That second link - perfect thanks! They make it REALLY hard to find but I knew it had to be somewhere :)

No problem Tim, I just stumbled across it on Google: Glad it's what you needed. Adobe never make finding things easy... vmad

Just checked, worked perfectly, thanks! Adobe should really make this easier to find. Their whole update system is pretty broken.

Not broken, deceptive. It hides the updates to which you are entitled in order to push you toward subscribing to the cloud out of discouragement or despair.

I'd say it's broken. I had to manually update Bridge, Photoshop, and ACR, auto update wouldn't do it. You're right that it may be intentional.
