Thanks Al! If that peak is named I haven't been able to find it. Our guide also told us it was unnamed. We just started calling it Divide Peak. David, Can you show on the map approximate areas that you went in the Tombstone Range? Someday I will want to comeback to Dawson City and see more places. We pretty much kept to the area between Divide Lake and Talus Lake. See this map - Dave | flickr

Superb capture, David. Thanks Barry. I guess I could have asked for an epic sunset and blazing Aurora, neither of which we got that night dkizzle wrote in post #17434973 Thanks for the info. I want one of my upcoming photography trips to be as cool as yours. How long was the hike from each camp site? During Yukon / Alaska trip we chartered round trip Cessna flights and 2 flightseeing trips (1 in Denali was cancelled to bad weather). The flightseeing trip in Kluane NP had an option to do a glacial landing but due to clouds the plane could not go deep into the mountains and make it far enough for glacial landing. This outfit has the record for the highest mountain landing in the world and mostly used by scientists who have several stations high up in the mountains. One of the stations was used to create a cure for altitude sickness to be used by soldiers in combat. I think it took us a round 2-3 hours to go from Divide to Talus lake. There are some sections over boulder/talus fields which required some care negotiating. - Dave | flickr

Wasn't aware then of the spectacular photographic potential of the Tombstones, so bypassed that side trip. Lots of great memories of that trip, but a major regret of not taking time for it. Your beautiful shot is one of several since then that strengthen that regret. Nice work. Stan (See my gallery at http://www.pbase.com/sparker1

dkizzle Goldmember 1,184 posts Likes: 35 Joined Mar 2012 More info | During my trip I was on 2 chartered flights (in & out of Gustavus, AK) and took some snapshots. The weather was bad on the way out and we were delayed by 1 day to fly out. In both Kluane NP & Wrangell St. Elias NP flights I took pictures and got a lot of nice abstract shots. On the second flight the pilot told us to let her know when we want the plane tipped over to one side to get a better shot. This helped a lot. I want to guest blog on your Landscape / Travel photography blog, PM for details
