Yosemite Natural Firefall

I decided to try for it, but now sitting in a traffic jam from some accident, hope it clears soon

Oh it always says clear. I've learned that out the hard way. Once it hits about 4 the clouds start moving in. Happened every day I tried to shoot Firefall minus two. I would think with the possibility of storms coming it would be worse.

I still want to know where their weather things are at too. I swear those things are always wrong whether it's temp or something else.

It's the old "if you don't like the weather wait five minutes"
I'm not feeling too hopeful right now, but it beats being at work! I got lucky last week and found and was able to take pictures of an eagle I've been trying to find for two years, so anything can happen
Checking my radar app as I'm driving through a heavy cloud layer, still looks clear near Yosemite, do see rain off to the east a bit

The only one I know of that's in the valley is at Happy Isles. It's a tiny building with data collectors on top. That's North Dome in the background.

As you can see, it was partly cloudy that day.

Yeah I believe there are a couple weather stations within the park, but I swear they are always wrong. That or I just have bad luck lol.

Nice shots. Sometimes you can anticipate, sometimes the weather dictates light. But patience often pays off

thanks, turned out the weather was great, once I hit course gold, and into the park, just not much of a fall to catch any light. Maybe better luck next year.

Each year, assuming the conditions are right (sunlight and water from snow pack), Horsetail Fall, located on the East side of El Capitan, turns into the natural Firefall phenomenon.

I camped four days in Yosemite and only one day was able to capture it. I went back yesterday in attempt to get one more shot, and luckily was able to when the sky looked like it wasn't going to allow any sunlight through.

where was this shot? was this shot from the Southside Dr across the merced River or from El Cap picnic area? i like that you didnt get any trees in your shot and El Cap fills the frame
