I went to Treasure Island today for sunset wanting to experiment more with long exposures. My goal was to practice some technique and see how well the Canon Remote app works. My trip was successful in that I was able to achieve those goals, but I've also learned lots about dealing with wind, cold, humidity and adverse weather. The wind is the enemy, both to the camera and to my hands. The app is cool but I wish I didn't have to hold the button down the entire exposure time. I really wish the canon remote wasn't so dang expensive......... :-(

More from today. I really need to figure out how to reduce camera movement during longer exposures. Many shots were unusable because of the shake from wind and general lack of sharpness.

Nice set. Did you use a 10 stop ND filter?

To avoid camera movements when is windy I'm using a hanger in my tripod where I simply hang my rucksack. I haven't found a better solution yet.

Hi, and thank you. I used a Hoya NDX400 which is a 9 stop Filter. I did hang my camera bag from the tripod but even with that it made it feel like there was some slight sway. What I will do next time is lower the tripod and see if that feels sturdier.

Nice job, I really like the second two.

If you aren't stable enough with added weight, lowering the tripod should help. Especially if the tripod has a center section with multiple sections.
