I really like that first shot, the lighting works very well!

I also really love the side lighting on the first shot, and the way it emphasizes form and shape, and de-emphasizes color and detail. I'd like to do more deer photography in such conditions myself.

The backlit antlers in your 1st image are wonderful, and despite your thread title and setting it's a shame there's housing in the background.
I noticed that at least 2 of the 3 deer have learned to stay on the sidewalk

I think it's really neat that there is housing in these images; that is what makes them unique. There are already untold thousands of images with Red Deer in magnificent natural surroundings......abou​t time to see something different, that hasn't already been done a gazillion times, over and over and over.

I specialize in photographing Whitetail Deer, and I would absolutely love to have opportunities to photograph them in these types of surroundings. Someday, hopefully, I will finally find attractive urban areas that have cooperative Whitetail bucks.
