I want to purchase an adapter ring for my Lee Filter system which would fit my EF-S 10-22mm and EF-S 17-55mm. Both are 77mm. Do I need the wide angle adapter ring or would the standard ring work without causing vignetting?

If the difference in cost was not significant I would always pick the wide angle version where I could.

The wide version is recommended for lenses wider than 35mm (I guess on FF) so your 17 with an FF eqv field of view of 28mm is well within the recommendation for the wide version. At least both lenses have the same size filter thread, so you only need the one ring.

I bought the foundation kit and the standard ring from someone. Using it on my 17-40, you could easily see it in the frame on the wide end. the wide angle one works perfectly. 5D3 / M3 / S100 / Σ 35 Art / 50 1.8 / 135 L / 17-40 L / 24-70 L / 70-200 f/4 IS L / m 22 2.0 / 580ex II
