I use Canon gear...have several bodies and lenses and am quite pleased with them.

Thanks....on the barn shot...I actually did a touch of 'light painting' to bring out the details of it.

Very nice indeed.
BTW there are plenty of Astrophotographers in this forum from Texas, (At least 3 out of 7 people in this Astronomy/Celestial forum) all with very nice sky. May be the rest should keep this thread alive by regular posts.

Then a side note: Be very careful with created boarders. From my experience, most of time people think it degrades the image rather than enhancing, but then it all ends to photographers choice.

Nice shots. I live in the hill country in Tx. The sky at my place is very good. Only a slight glow to the east from Marble Falls. Almost makes up for the heat in the summer :)

I'm way too close to Austin. Wish I could live further out, but I'm still letting the job dictate location.

For you fellow Texans... I made a trip out to the Davis Mountains this past summer...shot this milky way just down from the McDonald Observatory there.

Make note on you calendars...Aug 13, the Perseid Meteor shower will be peaking on that night...no moon. I'm seriously considering making another run out there and it is about as far from me as one can be and still in the state. Spectacular views though for sure.

Great shot Tony ! McDonalds is plenty dark and i see that in your image . Love the FE lens and image capture . I been going to the State Park for the Perseids for about the last 10 years or so . Been cloudy a couple times :( . From the State park tho if you watch where the MW comes up from the North you can see Fireballs every so often come up and dissappear into the Southern part of the MW where it gets' so bright it washes them out . I have tried to image these with film and digital and never had good luck . But i think if a persone had a 1.4 or 1.8 lens it maybe possible to capture one or two . These are really light and they leave a streak nearly the full length of the MW from North all the way to South where it's brightest . ALso to every year i think in MAy the Prude Ranch not far from the Park has a weekend for Stargazers and they come from all over the world sometimes and everyone brings all their scopes and equipment and stargaze for a few nights together . I never been to one but you have to make reservations ahead of time to get a spot . But you can camp at the ranch and they serve most meals too . A little costly but if you ever want check out the event at the Texas Star Party : https://texasstarparty.org/ (external link)
