Venturing into the woods today, I was in for a big surprise. . .
Along the verges I was greeted by the elegant and lovely Snowdrop. This is usually the first flower to appear in the new year and with it comes the promise of Spring.
Walking deeper into the woods I then discovered partly buried in damp and rotting wood, these Scarlet Elf Cups.
There were also some lovely orange-brown caps of Velvet Shank that also seemed to be glowing from out of the damp, moss covered wood. The bright orange caps appeared darker towards the centre and slimy in the wet conditions. I placed a golden reflector to the right in order to diffuse some of the harsh shadows while this also seemed to complement the reflective warm glow of the mushrooms.
