Personally, I don't understand why the first Walmart and the Google team are on the list. If you're going to have the Google team, how can you not have the first Microsoft team or the first Apple team? I'm sure photos of those exist.

That was fun looking through those photographs.

Appreciate what the collection is supposed to represent, but aren't most photos rare so long as there's not a copy of them? That is, any photo of my childhood is a rare photo, but no one cares.

I know I'm just parsing semantics... don't mind me. I think these fit better under a category of most historically intruiguing photos.

Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

You are precisely correct, Nathan. I was surprised to see someone call these images "rarest", for the very reason you give.

I do believe that there are billions of photos that are tied for the title of "rarest photo ever". That is because any photo that has not been copied (and had at least one of the copies retained) is as rare as any other photo that has not been copied (and had at least one of the copies retained). Hence, there are countless billions of photos of which there are no copies, and they are all tied for "rarest photo ever".

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

My gosh, there are negatives that were never printed. You can't get rarer than that.

The rarest photograph would be me w/ 6 pack abs. Come to think of it, that doesn't exist.

Nice article and thanks for sharing.

The cars in the "first Walmart" photo don't fit the 1962 time frame.

Agreed. Our language has a superlative problem. It is why I am hesitent to post images to any thread title beginning with "Your Best". ;-)a

Honestly, I didn't even notice the early 2000's Subaru when I first looked at the photo. I was more focused on the building.

You're right - a single image, with no copy......that's as rare as it gets. The same could be said for all of the hundreds of millions of images that have been taken digitally, and have never been downloaded onto a device. No copy ever made......again, as rare as it gets.

Then there are the photos that I wish I'd taken. The bird flew away too soon, or I was on private property without permission to shoot, or I didn't want to risk offending human subjects. These photos don't even exist in digital form. They're really rare! And they're all really good.
