I took these photos last week near La Paz, Mexico; located on the Sea of Cortez in Baja California Sur.

This is a White Ibis (I think). I was sitting in the water when I took this. The exposure for a white bird in light water is tricky. I purposely blew out a few small areas. I think this is the best exposure of a series that I bracketted.

Here's a pelican. I couldn't resist taking this standard fishing boat and pelican photo. My girlfriend was nice enough to circle some blocks with our rental car while I fooled around photographing this bird.

Let me know what you think

That first bird is not a White Ibis.
It looks like some type of Heron.
here's a link to a white ibis:

Super shots. The first one looks more like a Snowy Egret. I would crop out most of the boat up to the pelican's shadow.

I agree with amt, the white bird is a Snowy Egret and of course, the Brown Pelican (not quite in breeding colors). As exotic as La Paz is this could be taken just about anywhere. Nice job on the captures.

Thanks for te correction. White ibis's have curved bills. I think it is some sort of heron.

I opted to keep the boat as part of the picture because I like the shape of the boat and I wanted to add some sunstance to my coming baja gallery. A close-up of a pelican isn't all that interesting. I shot these photos as much for the colors as the birds.
