Fantastic shots. I saw the last one on Flickr earlier today and thought to myself it was only a matter of time before it ended up in the PJ thread on POTN! Nice work Shane. Merry Christmas to you and all my POTN photo friends!

The PJ story with this set is that there's still hope for kids to have fun with good ole fashioned crafts....no screens!

I've spent a fair amount of time studying this shot. I think it's the lighting that keeps pulling me in. There's a lot of warmth in this photo, especially for being a straight black & white image. Very nice job of processing.

Thank you, Pekka! I'm sure some members here might have imagined that POTN might begin winding down. But that doesn't make the news any less disappointing. So generous of you to allow us to go along for the ride. As a result you gave us a way to help each other become better photographers. But there's still so much more to learn.

Thx! I really like how that one turned out also. Light was off camera bare speedlite bounced off a wall camera right.

Ha! That's even better, knowing that it wasn't a terribly complicated lighting set-up. Plus, black & white doesn't care what color the wall is...

Very best,

If it weren't for grilled cheese sandwiches (and spaghetti) growing up we'd have all starved to death! Nice one!

Not the best, but a shot by the missus on her phone of me and the kids over Xmas desperately trying to stave off sleep by watching 'The Gruffalo's Child'...

Not sure how I missed this thread...I love this concept, and for a while it was how I had to shoot photos of my daughter, just casual stuff, catching her being a kid...and it is a reminder that I need to do more of it in 2018...
This was one of my favorites from early in 2016, she was really into the Movie "Inside Out" and she constructed her own "Console"...we recently had to throw it out, it had suffered from too much make believe...

You have this family photojournalism nailed. I haven't put my finger on what all the elements of a photojournalistic image are, but I know what isn't.

There is an element of casual, almost as if the subject has no idea the camera is there, everyday scenes...yeah, its easy to see what it isn't...harder to come up with what it is.
