fabulous

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

I agree. I'm not a fan of this kind of processing either. But it appears we're in the minority as I sure see it a lot.

It depends on the mood you're trying to create. I don't think there's one blanket form of post processing which works for all images. Photography is also an art form and thus is largely subjective ;)

Man, you absolutely kill it with this type of photography! Truly inspiring, I don't think you could've framed/timed this any better :)

Add one more to the minority group.

This thread is more about the moments than the processing. I don't mind the flatter black and whites, though I do my images with deeper blacks. :)

I feel like your "garbage" is in line with my best work though

Your work really does inspire me to hone my craft, I love every shot you post (among other people in this thread too).

I rather liked it, I wouldn't worry too much, everyone has their own tastes ;)

As I said above, for me it depends on the mood I want to convey... I generally prefer a more contrasty image too, but I play around with flatter contrast sometimes too.

It's a matter preference, of course. Some types of processing seem to works better on certain shots than others. I think the darkened borders and softened colors work well for this shot. Great expressions from both of your "models".

Thank you, Pekka! I'm sure some members here might have imagined that POTN might begin winding down. But that doesn't make the news any less disappointing. So generous of you to allow us to go along for the ride. As a result you gave us a way to help each other become better photographers. But there's still so much more to learn.
