Have any of you had your camera bag pickpocketed?

I've worried about it in pickpocket heavy neighborhoods like Rome and Spain. I did have one encounter with a group of muggers/aggressive panhandlers in Paris that I managed to get out of.

I ended up buying a backpack that has opens in reverse (Manfrotto Veloce V) to reduce the risk of being pickpocketed, but it is definitely not as quick as a normal bag with a side/top opening. I often pass up shots rather than stop to get what I want out.

Maybe I'm worrying about it too much, have you ever had your bag pickpocketed?

I almost got a backpack this weekend but the thought of getting pickpocketed on the train had me worried. did not know about that bag, maybe i'll get it in the future.

I had someone try to grab a lens out of my camera bag in Paris. Fortunately, it was an old Nikon bag that had mounts built-in the bottom that the lenses attached to just like mounting the lens on the camera. I've never seen any bag like that since, but I thought about making one out of some inexpensive macro extension tubes.
