Yes I have heard good things about MS ICE. I do not really do much in the way of pano's and have PS CS5 so just use that. I seem to recall that CS2 did have stitching and is worth the download if you don't have another editing application. PS CS2 is still a very powerful editing application, although it lacks a few of the more recent tools like content aware fill that can be very useful.

Ps cs2? Is that just an older version of ps? Can I do most things like blending and stuff like that on cs2?

Yes CS2 will do lots of different blending option, as it has full layers support, with layer masks and the like. PS as had those abilities for decades now. Mostly what the newer versions offer are easier ways of utilising them. Better methods of selection, and refining selections. Content Aware tools are good as well, although generally you can still get the same results without them, it just takes a lot longer. For something that Adobe has decided that they don't mind you having for free, it's a great option. Although supposedly only for those who had a CS2 licence, Adobe support seem to suggest it as an option for anyone.

I've heard rumors that Lightroom 6 will have pano stitching. Of course, this is just a rumor. I heard the announcement will be March 6 so the wait it not to far away. If it use CS5 stitching, it will be good.

best pano software I've tried is auto pano giga.

if you use a nodal rail, any old software will do a good job I think, however, imperfect panos, apg does a really good job.

Assuming you have a Canon camera, you should have a stitching application on the CD that came with it. I don't like it as well as using Elements or Photoshop but depending on what you are doing, it may work for you.

I'd like to add another vote for Microsoft Research's Image Composite Editor (ICE) - the latest version has some really nice features, and can cope with different algorithms for how the images were taken (lateral movement of the camera, rotation on a ball head, etc...).

I've been using it for several years and always get pretty good results from it.

I was also going to recommend this.

Hugin is great, it's opensource. I've also used Autopano (which has all the bells and whistles).
