Looking for quick opinions on this, for editing. My laptop has fried and this is a temporary solution (was replacing my daughters old laptop with a new one that was slightly cheaper, but then decided to get this so I could use it until able to buy what I need/want for myself, at which time this will go to her).

I'm not up to date on AMD processors, but a quick google search said this was equivalent to an i5. I'm coming from an i7 with 16GB ram and ssd, so I know I'll see a performance hit while using this. But, it's not like I'm editing every day, and I don't edit video at all.

So, what's y'all's opinion on this laptop. Again, for those that will say wait and save money for 3 months, I was going to buy one anyway, for my daughter. So, until I do save my money, she will continue to use her old one, and I'll use this one.

Anyway.... Linky... http://www.bestbuy.com …goryId=pcmcat247400050000 (external link)

Following up, in case anyone is interested....

For an entry level machine, I'm impressed. That said, I'll be getting my previous specs, or upgrading to a Mac of one kind or another, as soon as I can.

The processor seems to run LR and PS fine. Having only one internal drive is killing me, though. The screen is pretty, but sucks for editing. It's not a wide enough angle of view. Even after calibration and making sure I'm looking straight on (90 degree angle), I can see contrast variation from top to bottom, making it hard to judge on the editing. I've never had a "glossy" screen before, either. I kind of hate the glare. And, of course... there's the move from a 17.3 to a 15.6. Everything in LR is so tiny.

The thing I did really like about the calibration was the ability to adjust the brightness in 1 cd/m2. On my ASUS, each press of the adjustment button would move it up or down something like 23 cd/m2, making me settle for around 74 or so. Not ideal, but once I was used to it, I knew how much to adjust while editing, to compensate. With this Lenovo, though, I found that the adjustment keys still jump a good ways, but when you press them, a slider appears on screen. You can quickly grab that slider with your mouse and fine tune the adjustment. So, I was able to hit exactly 80 cd/m2. I haven't done a test print yet, though. That will be sometime in the next few days when I have time.

So, yeah... it's everything I expected it would be for a temporary step down. But, I'll be looking more into higher end Lenovo's, or another ASUS, or maybe make the jump and try a Mac, as soon as possible, then give this one to my daughter, as was originally planned before my previous laptop took a dirt nap.

I gotten college-age daughters a couple of entry-level lenovos (can't remember the model #). But there all pretty much all the same. The processor probably fine but ... the biggest downside is the screen. We did calibrate the screen and it helps ... a little. Just remember that what looks good in these laptops, may to totally off for the rest of the world's monitors.

It's a nice entry-level laptop. What I've done with mine is I bumped the RAM to 8Gb, and later added SSD drive. Everything besides the processor were top notch. I did PS, Lightroom, programming to a great extent on it. Served me well.
