Last week I heard some neighbors yelling "Get Out!, GET OUT!!" as I walked past with my 2 dogs. Lo and behold, a Pitbull was jumping in and out of their car and they were not the least bit pleased or equipped to handle the situation. The pictures I've brought to share are of that dog.

The story so far is the dog was adopted from a local county animal shelter and has a microchip. The registered owner has been called multiple times by my veterinarian with messages left to no avail. My current avatar shows the face of the last Pitbull that "strayed" into my life.....so here we go again! I've tentatively named this fella Pacino and I think you'll be able to figure out why.

I don't know what the future holds for "Mr Pacino", but I can guarantee he'll not be euthanized on my watch. He's friendly towards people & dogs and is not food aggressive. To my mind he's a wonderful ambassador for the breed and deserves a good home somewhere. We're just not sure where that somewhere is right now. Hope you've enjoyed meeting him.

Dear CamFan,

Good luck with either rehoming or adopting Pacino. I too am a pit bull fan even though I've only ever owned labs and a bird dog mix.

Maybe it's because I'm kind of old and remember Petey from "Our Gang?" Or maybe because I can see what is inside a dog by looking in it's eyes? Either way I think pits are wonderful dogs.

I just had my dog put down and it's time to consider a new buddy. We have a preponderance of pit bulls around here and if I can talk the Missus into one I'll get one.

Thank you for sharing the pictures of Pacino and I hope everything works out well for all parties involved.

Sincerely,

Tim Murphy

Thanks for your kind words Tim. I read your story with a heavy heart and share in your sorrow having had to say goodbye this way to 2 previous family members. I now face this situation for a third time in the not too distant future with my Yellow Lab hunting buddy Dixie. We all know it's coming, but the emptiness left behind is profound.

As for Pacino, we'll find him a good home somewhere. He has a good nature and only needs to be taught that there are boundaries. We're working on that now.
If this does turn out to be an abandonment I can't express strongly enough my disgust with people who would take this approach. We too seem to have a preponderance of Pitties as I found out last time from local rescue groups. I would agree with you 100% that they are an extremely nice breed of dog when in the proper hands/home and wish you the best if you choose to add one to your family.

He is a beauty Steve. Possibly the owners are away on vacation, and left him in someone else's care. It seems to happen quite often. Don't give up on finding his owners just yet! Good for you for taking care of him in the meantime.

Thanks Sandy, and you're right of course i.e. many scenarios could lead to his arrival in my neighborhood and subsequently in my garage :-)
The county says the owner has 30 days to reclaim him and the owner still hasn't returned the calls from my veterinarians office. One week and counting and I'll keep you posted.

Yes, I'm in the metro Atlanta, GA area. Shame that there's any postings anywhere, but I'd bet similar dogs show up lost/found in a lot of metro areas.
Thanks for comment and being aware though :-)

Cute dog!
I've got two myself, both rescue, both "predominantly bulll-ish" in their mut breeding.

Always good to hear from you Jake and I'll tell him one more person thinks he's cute. Not sure his ego can handle too much more :-)
I certainly applaud your adoptive efforts as mutts need love too. I may soon be on equal footing with you in adoptions.
