Braved the cold this weekend and gathered some photon on the beautiful M42 - Orion Nebula. I am learned how to process my LGRB to a level that I am satisfied. Today I am sharing my luminance channel.

That extra, external cold could be very useful when used rightly with such a nice sensor you have.
These SBIGs are second to none.

Thanks guys. I am still working on a RGB and Narrowband composite. I am still new to processing so it might be a while. I am hopeful since the luminance looks great for capture that was done in a yellow zone.

awesome colour :)

now you could experiment with what I am also working on achieving ....

bringing out the detail in the outer regions without blowing out the core.
you didn't say what you were doing your processing with ... PS ?
there's good ways with using layers to blend lower exposure layers that give core detail
with higher exposure layers to bring out the outer nebula filaments .... have a play and have some fun

most astrotog's will tell you that M42 is one of the most difficult to photo and process because of its very
wide dynamic range

cheers
Dave

I don't use PS. I use Nebulosity and Lightroom. I have over 1.49gb of data. This is only the beginning. I have some Ha, OIII and SII to work with too. Since I was limited to 120sec (no assisted guiding). I am uncertain if they are going to come out that good.

Good to see it as a white light shot.

OK with LR, you can experiment with the adjustments of the light, mid and shadows setting etc :)
