My travel tripod is a Mefoto A1340Q1, which I bought 4 years or so ago in China. It's the 4 segment, 3 lock version of the 5 segment/4 lock version sold in the US. I like it because of the reversable legs lets me fit it in carryon, but it's still a tad bit on the heavy side.
I notice that the head will sink a touch when I frame a shot with a 5dmkii and 16-35mm, so it's not like it's a terribly heavy camera, well within the 8kg weight limit. Now I aim high, and hope that when the head settles it will land in the framing I want.
What I don't know is whether it always did this, or if it's just failing now and it needs to be replaced. Do ballheads fail like this over time?
Yes, I know that Mefoto heads are not considered as good as others but at the time I bought it, I didn't have much info on it. Since the legs are reversible, it's not really tthat easy to replace the head because the legs are designed to fit in the gaps of the controls. But this might be the excuse I needed to go buy a carbon tripod+head
