Very nice set. I can't wait for our variety to return in May!

Nice images, really shows off the ruby throat. Your profile says New York; is that where you took these images?

That is incredibly sharp. What lens/focal lens were you shooting with?
I have several Rufous Hummingbirds in my yard, but can never get the timing and distance and AF to all line up to get me something that clear and sharp.

Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

thanks, I finally gave up using the new version of DPP and processed the raw files in LR instead. it's all luck really, I placed my camera at a fixed distance where I saw the bird sitting on its perch and prefocused. I then walked away, as soon as it came back, I started clicking away with my wireless remote!

I used an old v1 of 400mm IS 2.8 w/ 1.4 extender and a flash w/ better beamer!

I'll hit you guys up again when I'm back next week.

Very nicely done and congrats on some wonderful captures of your first Hummer!
Since you spilled the beans about your set up I'd say there's very little luck involved. You did very well with that approach with the last 2 captures showing great details. Can't wait to see more!
