Yum. I wish my favorite seafood wasn’t so dang ugly.
I'm new to food photography, so C&C appreciated.

Your subject is nicely framed and focused, and it renders the surfaces well. I wonder about the color, though. Was the scene so brown? It looks almost like a sepia monotone.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, OhLook.
I’m not sure if your perceptive critique is due to my camera or to the color of the setting.
This was taken on a plate from Iron Mountain Stoneware which featured some unusual dark greens and browns.
I'll try pay more attention next time.
Even if the colors were off, the oysters were yummy.
Thanks again!

I am guessing that your white balance is off. If you have shot this in raw, go to the raw, and slide the color temp slider until the pics reflect what you remember of the colors.

I am guessing further that the light on the oysters was dim originally.

Color sliders work on jpgs, too.

I like this image as well and agree with the color temp comments. I think that a slightly cooler temp will bring a more natural appearance. The perspective is nice and the DOF works for me as well. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, TeamSpeed, OhLook and Lupo-Lobo for your comments! I've already begun to experiment according to your suggestions!
Great stuff. Thanks again!

White balance was apparently for Daylight, but lighting was indoor tungsten. In addition, photo was underexposed. I presume I have your OK to post a corrected version...

Oh man, Wilt. Not only is it o.k. to make corrections, I welcome them!
Nicely done my friend.

(We may need to organize an oyster roast :-) )

Wilt, your version looks better, but don't the oysters still have an unrealistic red cast?

I merely adjusted the original JPG as far as i could adjust it with my post processing software, without storing an intermediate JPG so that I could try to adjust a second generation!

Here's another generation of white balance as well as brightness and contrast change
