I have this cable below which connects to the yn622 trigger on one end and an alienbee strobe on the other. However it won't fire the strobe light. What is the correct cable to use to fire alien bee lights?

That looks similar to the cable I use to trigger my Alienbees from RF-603's. I find that sync cords go bad fairly often. I had a bad one last week. Try another cable.

I have 4 of these cables and none of them work. I am wondering if I have to set my camera in a certain way or trigger to a certain channel in order for it to fire my alien bees?

What are your camera flash control settings? Are you trying to use HSS/Supersync?

Did you try firing using the test button on the transmitter?

I tried both Ettl2 and manual on my camera (5d2). HSS not set. Pressing the test button doesn't fire the strobe (works on regular flash 580ex2).

Just to be clear, the test button works when you have a 580 on the receiving end? Hmmmm, I know somebody that is using the YN662Cs with a set of Einsteins.

Correct, the test button on the yn622 works fine on both of my 580ex2.

The 1/4 to 3.5mm adapter on one of my cords was bunk on arrival. Maybe that's the problem?

I use YN622's to fire strobes. Settings in-camera shouldn't really have any effect on whether or not the strobe fires, definitely seems like a connection issue. I use a simple adapter/cable that came in the box with my Mettle strobe (nice surprise).

I would try a different adapter before I gave up on the YN622's, they've proven really useful to me as I often mix speed lights with a strobe, and I love that they will hyper-sync with most studio strobes, no ND filters necessary to shoot wide open.

Does Hyper Sync= High speed sync (HSS)? Do you simply set HSS on camera and fire your strobe? or is there more settings to it?

I have been using these with my 622C triggers with no issues to connect to my AB800's. Never had an issue. Inexpensive as well. Just connect one to my 622 trigger and plug it into the sync jack on the Strobe.

Hyper-sync is slightly different. HSS "pulses" to extend the flash duration. Hyper-sync takes advantage of the after-glow from the strobe firing. But with the YN622's you just set the in-camera menu to HSS and chimp away.
