Hmmm Any input on this one from Big Value Inc?
http://www.ebay.com …geName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123 (external link)

I emailed them about their warranty because I know it's grey market. They replied

"It is brand new. This model will come with our store warranty which covers 90 days labor and 1 year parts for manufacture defects. No other warranty is implied. You will need to contact us for return for repair requests within the 1st year. Please let us know if you have any other questions, we are happy to help."

Sorry, don't have one to sell you, but I remember reading about Big Value Inc. If you do a search in the Marketplace thread you'll find some info.

Here is one that I quickly found and it looks like this person has purchased from them multiple times:

Good luck!

Thanks for the input though! If they back their warranties like they say, I really have no problem ordering from them. Especially since most private sellers are selling theirs for about the same, and those are used with no warranty.

That is $200 less than a refurb from Canon. The only problem I would worry about is that there have been 70Ds with less than stellar auto focus systems. That's where you would need Canon Service, I suspect.

It would be a calculated risk. Only you can determine if it's worth is to you or not. If you aren't in a rush, Canon has 20% off sales on their refurbished products several times a year. That way, you'd get the 14 day return/replacement and their one year warranty.

I did that when purchased my first DSLR, i.e., my 60D. It had 144 shutter actuations on it when it arrived.

The AF system issue is what I am worried about. I asked them if they'd send it in to get fixed if it had that issue and the response from my previous post is all that they responded with.

I decided I am either going to get it around $700 from someone i trust (forum member or reliable 3rd party) or I am just going to buy new from best buy and have the Canon warranty. The Refurb price on sale would be nice; otherwise you might as well buy new for the refurb price canon has now.

I agree. Even with a 20% discount on the Refurb price, you'll be paying almost $800 by the time you add in the shipping and state taxes (if your state has a sales tax).

I'm hanging on to mine. I don't know if this is wise or not. I keep thinking I'll end up using it for macro shots were the articulating screen will be an advantage. I guess having a backup isn't a bad thing either.
