This is not a big deal, but wondering why Flicker says I am shooting my pics in Auto? I shot everything in AV (I guess AV is kind of Auto, but it is not full auto).

I have not really looked to see what it shows. Maybe Flickr considers the semi auto modes (Av, Tv) as auto modes. I honestly wouldn't worry too much about it. When I am looking at images in Flickr, I look at the settings for things like aperture and shutter speed. I don't generally look to see if they are shooting in auto or not.

I just have had a few people comment on me shooting in auto and saying I should try AV to have more control of my camera (I always shot in AV). So just wondered why flicker was putting it down as auto. Like I said no big deal..but was wondering if others that shot in AV if flicker is doing the same to them.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I checked mine just now, and they also say just "auto" when I've used Aperture Priority. But technically, Flickr is right. Unless its full manual, its an "automatic" mode, of one kind or another.

Same here, listing as 'auto' for TV (shutter priority) shot. IIRC they used to list the specific exposure program mode, TV/AV, but that no longer appears under the Exif data on Flickr, just 'auto' now.

It would be nice if flickr made the real distinction between 'green box' mode (full auto), and TV/AV (sort of partial auto) to alleviate the confusion stated above. But if those people mentioned in the post above are telling others to use AV based on the flickr exif data, and they shoot AV themselves, then all of their photos are listed as 'auto' as well. :-P

Right I wonder if they have checked on their flicker account.

Looks like this is a known bug.

FYI, there is no "e" in Flickr.

I think you're right. Mine used to say "Aperture Priority Auto" or some such, if I wasn't using Manual. Now its just "Auto".

I've never used Program (or "Green Box") so I wonder what it says for those...

.. why Flicker says I am shooting my pics in Auto?...

Because you call it "FlickEr"!

/ that was a joke I wanted to tell. not funny? egh.

Anyways, I would agree with Flickr on this - AV/TV modes are Auto, because shutter and aperture give to image pretty drastic differences sometimes, so if you let camera to decide on these things, then there should be written "Auto". Only fair, I guess.

I think Flickr is being lazy. If other photo programs can distinguish between Av, Tv, and full Auto; then Flickr should be able to as well. Although I do understand their rationale, assuming it is that by choosing Av/Tv, you're letting the camera decide the rest of the settings in order to get a proper exposure and therefore it's more like a semi-auto mode.
