Black on Black pls CC

HI, I am having trouble getting CC on this image (posted in a few FB groups I'm in). I'm experimenting with lighting, etc. Is this a pretty good black on black? Any suggestions. (no cc on the frame, I just put them on there sometimes and it's fine if you dont like it).

I like it quite a bit! Nice light and cute expression on a cute little dog. You can see the whole animal, it doesn't disappear into black, I'd be quite happy with this shot.

Very nice. Here are a few ideas that pop into my head. The catch lights in the eye are a little faint. It would be nice to see a little more pop to them. I would also consider adding some rim lighting to give the subject a tinge of separation from the background. I understand you probably don't want too much separation but I think a touch would add a nice highlight. Overall the shot is nice as sharp as it should be.

As a technical work and a stylized pet portrait, I like it.

It's not to my personal taste, but I'm sure that dog's owner would love it very much.

I like it, but would tone down the big highlight on it's nose.

Thanks all! A great tip about the nose it looks 10x better like that and I never would have thought that. I normally fix the eyes, just hadn't gotten there yet but I did. I also took the dodge took and lightly went around the edges of his ears, head and bottom to lighten any highlights that may have been there to bring out a tad of separation: as best I could.

@nathan carter, it's my dog so it's all good, I wanted to practice black on black! Can I ask what you dont like about it? Is it that you dont like black on black or something else about it? The comments always help me consider how a potential client might view things of course.

Your second image post is a different frame image from the first, you can see the white I am referring to in both images, and the white is in a different area of the right eye in the first image . Is it a reflection or lighting I am not sure.

I am not a portrait tog, so I have no idea if that is acceptable or not, just merely pointing it out. If fine tuning is necessary or not.

Black on black is great. I'm just not a dog guy. I don't need a picture of a dog

Teach him to play poker, print it on velvet, now you've piqued my interest.


...anyway, for this subject matter in this style, I think it's great.

I've got you those are catch lights. It's the same frame. I just fixed them in the second picture, cleaned them up a bit.
