That looks amazingly similar to http://www.amazon.com …/B00M0NLOI2/ref=pd_cp_p_0 (external link). The Amazon version costs a bit more but seems to come with a ball head.

Per description it will come with a ballhead, looks like the brand is Beike :).

I have been looking at the same model on Amazon for when i go on vacation this year as opposed to taking one of my heavier tripods.

I'm just curious as to how sturdy it would be fully extended with a gripped 5d iii or 60d.

A bit risky I think. I was thinking of using it for my MFT setup only.

You are probably correct.

Might as well just save for a better model more suited for travelling, lightweight and sturdy is what i will need to budget for.

By reading the feedback on ebay, people who bought it seems very happy ...

That would be true of the Amazon feedback, it just looks a little spindly fully extended although it is 1.1 kg less in weight than my Vanguard alta pro.

I went to the local camera shop today to check out tripods, and something like this caught my eye.. until I used it. I wasn't a big fan of the twist-grip mechanism on the legs. It seemed like there was a lot of motion that went into locking/unlocking the legs. The one I looked at also had the removable monopod leg (which is a nice feature), but the thing was waaay too short.
