This Barred Owl was in its nest in this huge mahogany tree when we got there. It's probably brooding since there was fluff, but no other sounds from the nest. It flew out when it heard something and landed on a branch over the walkway. Missed focus on the nest shot and heavily cropped to at least see the face. I was under it for the second shot. Owlets will probably be there in a few weeks. Yesterday at Mahogany Hammock, Everglades National Park.

good find! took me a minute to find the owl in the first one... sort of a "where's Waldo" moment! they really are very well camouflaged... then again, most owls are!
