I have a 5DIII, and I'm looking to get an L-plate for it. I use Manfrotto tripods with the RC2 quick release system, and there-in lies the problem.

It seems all existing L-plates made for this camera use the Arca-swiss quick release system, incompatible with the RC2 system. I'm looking at this L-plate in particular

This goes into a Arca-swiss compatible clamp.

Is there an adapter I can use to "convert" my existing RC2 clamp into a Arca-swiss clamp?

It isn't all that expensive to just replace the clamp on your Manfrotto head..... I did and I can't believe how much better a good Arca Swiss compatible clamp system is. I still have my Manfrotto hydrostatic ball head but I have a Kirk screw clamp on it.

I have mostly RRS stuff other than my L brackets which are all Kirk because RRS doesn't make a one piece clamp for gripped a 70D or 7D2.

RRS lever clamps are amazing, I have to say.

I have been looking to do the same thing. I came across this as an option to convert the Manfrotto RC2 head:

http://www.amazon.com …P6H&coliid=I1GPRKF8P2LNOQ (external link)

and use this Arca-Swiss compatible QR clamp

http://www.amazon.com …YWY6/ref=pd_bxgy_p_text_y (external link)

I haven't done it yet, but it seems to be a good and inexpensive solution.

this looks like a great and inexpensive solution. has anybody tried this? i am thinking of using it for this http://www.rocketfishproducts.com …camcorders/RF-TRP47C.html (external link)

i also plan to get the Neewer® Black Aluminum QR Quick Release L-Plate Bracket for Canon 5D Mark III from Amazon has anybody tried it on their 5D3? it's about $90 cheaper than the Kirk or RRS and i understand you get what you pay for but it's an L bracket what could go wrong?
