"Amateur photographer Martin Le-May, from Essex, has recorded the extraordinary image of a weasel riding on the back of a green woodpecker as it flies through the air."

Absolutely amazing capture!

I enjoyed the surprise more when "The shot of a lifetime" was the only introduction.

That's awesome, Richard!
Thanks for making me/us aware of this.
Yesterday, a few hours after seeing this thread, I overheard them talking about it on Fox News....had to run to the TV set to see how they covered the story! It's cool that wildlife photography got a little love on national television!

Yes, so did I. But typically it really bothers me when someone does that (posts a link with no commentary). In this case, I enjoyed being completely surprised.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Many with limited time won't bother to read a post without an informative subject line and won't click on an arbitrary link.

Oh, yes, of course, Archie - I totally get that. As I very clearly explained, I am typically one of those who is particularly bothered by the practice. But for me, this was a rare exception.

Same here. I think the reason was that the thread was in Bird Talk. Had it been in Glamour & Nude or Critique Corner, for example, I would have passed it by. "The shot of a lifetime" with a nature subject is bound to be something special.

Yeah, an entirely different kind of weasel.

Yes, exactly!
Anything - anything at all - in Bird Talk or Wildlife Talk - is going to get my full attention. I am hungry for any type of bird & wildlife discussion, and only wish that there was a whole lot more activity in these special parts of POTN.
