+ 4 on the Sigma 30mm 1.4 non-art

it has sharpness, crispiness and "colour intensity" and good in low light

and it's only $200 (used)

60D
Sigma 30mm 1.4 non-art

QUOTED IMAGE

Is that straight off the camera or after PP?

I really like the 18-35 but it is a bit big and heavy. It is sharper than the 35 2.0 IS and the 351.4 A. From DXO mark the 35IS is the sharpest Canon lens on the 70D. Also the 18-35 1.8 A and 30 1.4 A both have the same T stop 1.8 (DXO). One more little thing 35 is the weak end on the 18-35 :)

18-35 is as sharp as if not better than their own 35 art version on crop. Check out slrgear charts.

I am selling my 30mm ART and have bought a EF-S 24mm f/2.8 pancake, soon to add a Sigma 18-35mm ART. The 30mm ART is great for portraits but is soft away from the centre at maximum aperture, so not good for low-light scenes. It is also slow to focus so not great for candid photography. The 24mm pancake is very portable and fast to focus. Quality and aperture are very good for its size. I expect the 18-35mm to be sharp across the frame in low light. It is big and heavy but so are most of my other lenses. I will choose between them depending on what I am shooting.

Canon 7D / 10-22 / 17-55 / 70-200 f2.8L IS II / 100-400L / 100L Macro / Σ 30 f1.4 A / Σ 85 f1.4

Just a quick fyi

Camera store tv did a comparison of the sigma 18-35 vs 3 Nikon f1.8 primes in the same range.

https://www.youtube.com …v=nQHi8L0athY&app=desktop (external link)

The short of it was the sigma basically beat or matched the three primes in everything from AF, sharpness, colors, and bokeh.
