Finger Foods

Let's see what you got ... convenient, portable and fast, many of the foods we encounter around the planet are well suited for the eating utensils we were born with - our fingers.

I will start with something from more recent times rather than ancient

Chicken finger, sometimes called tenders, are smallish strips of battered and fried chicken breast ... much preferred to the venerable chicken nugget.

Here's mine , homemade version , last year photo though Thai-style wings

Very kind of you - thanks. This vendor is known for their sweet tea and I wanted to include that but I was at the limit of my ability to light the scene with the gear I had on hand. Also, I was low on real estate - the weathered boards I placed the food on didn't extend the full frame width and I ended up having to use healing brush and clone stamp tool in PS CC to fill in the lower left and upper right corners Low budget - hobby food photography aint what its all cracked up to be.

This looks absolutely delicious! The warm tones, vibrancy, and colors really make this look appetizing. What was your lighting setup?

At least you've got a great software to tweak your photos ! I'm still using Picmonkey to edit my all food photos , I know , I know ! Hey , it's free and a fool-proof way to edit food photos You should see my set up , all DIY , woods that I painted myself , white/black/silver cardboard from the craft stores , white cloth to cover the window . Space is premium here in HK , imagine living in a 600 sq foot flat /apartment and using a 100mm macro in one of matchbox size bedrooms

I understand where you are coming from - I have been in very similar living arrangement for nearly twenty years now. You just got to make the most with what you have and it looks as though you are doing just that.

'twas really good well according to my unsophisticated tastebuds My lighting set-up is so simple , I usually cover the window with white cloth to diffused the light , a white cardboard or sometimes a silver cardboard reflector on the left and also sometimes , a small mirror on the lower right side . No fancy equipment actually

How do you like your 85mm f1.8? I have been debating the choice of saving for the 85 f1.2L or picking up the 1.8. Have you had a chance to use the L and compare?

It's really great especially if you're into portrait photography , check out the 85 1.8 lens thread here at POTN . I bought this lens with food photography in mind and the images are really tack sharp . The 85L is way too expensive for me and haven't had the chance to try it but if you have a budget for the L , I'll say , go for it
