Hey guys, I'm looking at getting a holster system that can hold a lens pouch or two as well as the camera and attached lens on the hip, what are you guys using and how do you like it? I've been eyeing down that spiderholster but thought I'd hear from other people before pulling the trigger. Also wondering what lens pouches you guys have if using the spider system.

I have a single mount Spider holster, and I have a couple of LowePro lens exchange cases that I attach to the belt.

However, I rarely use this combo, for two main reasons - (1) I found that my lack of hips cause me to constantly be concerned about the belt sliding down and even possibly pulling my pants down with it (especially when weighed down with gripped camera + heavy zoom, plus 2 other lenses), and (2) I found it challenging to slide the pouches around to access them to swap lenses.

I would say #1 is a personal issue for me due to my body type/build. However, #2 may be challenging for you as well. I would suggest going to a local camera store and trying it out on the floor before purchasing.

I've been looking at a vest from TheVestGuy or possibly using a vest + belt system from LowePro or other vendor as an alternative. I know, I'm probably the only guy who just can't get happy with the spider pro belt, but it is what it is.

Initially I used the Peak Design Capture with the Think Tank Pro Belt but later on settled for the Cotton Carrier Vest with the Think Tank Steroid Belt.

^^So I'm assuming your Steroid Belt holds lens bags and accessories bag, since the camera(s) would be mounted to the Cotton Carrier vest? There's no way to connect that particular vest to the belt is there? That's my main need - to have something to hold up the belt more than just the belt itself around my waist.

Love my Spiderholster system
two holsters, slid onto my "the wilderness" "riggers belt" (a 1.5", titanium buckled gunbelt)
like most of my gear, its had a hard life - 2x 1D bodies (with 70-200 and 16-35/24-70) hanging off it most days for the past 3 years
the pins are pretty worn, enough that i am thinking of replacing them very soon.

honestly it rates pretty highly on my "good gear purchases" list.
no more sore shoulders or back from carrying cameras, no more straps sliding off shoulders, no more fighting with backpack and camera straps.

you may find a bit of discomfort for the first week or so, as your body gets used to the weight and pressure of the gear
i had light bruises on my thighs for the first week, but i did just attach them and jump into a solid week of work.

Yes, the Steroid Belt is to hold lens/accessory bags and the CC Vest for the camera. Works great for me! Both units conveniently come with "D" rings, so holding them together is as easy as using some carabiners.
