My first attempt at shooting pics like these, please tell me what you guys think. I've played around with it in photoshop, as you'll notice.

Thanks
Saad

If you are going to manipulate to create your image, please make that sea more welcoming. It feels cold just to look at it!

For me, the only thing that makes it look a little cold is the fact that the image is too dark, overall. I think it would look much warmer if it were just printed lighter.

Composition is excellent. Placement of the horizon very good and relationship of her head with the horizion works well. Her knees are just a tad too close to the bottom edge, but not enough to hurt (it's just that the interest is still continuing as you run out of image).

Color balance seems to be on the mark. The sun is at a very low angle, so it is probably not far from twilight, but I think brighter would be better.

I kinda went for that. I almost completely desaturated the blue/green out of the ocean and the sky to give the image a slightly ghost-like feel. I just felt the ocean, with the prtty blue colour it was that day, took some of the attention away from the subject. Thanks, though, i think i know what youre getting at.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. can u explain that further? or perhaps play around with the image on ps to show me what you mean? thank you. oh, and yea, I think youre right about the knees. I can fix that.

Thanks for the advice guys, keep'em coming.

I have to disagree with you on that one... if you're wanting to draw attention to the model and away from the landscape then maybe try a slight blur.. desaturating like that only draws the eyes TO the lack of color and depth...

Here's what I mean. All I did was change the white point and boost the level of the midtones a bit using "Levels".

This shot doesn't work for me because she is not in focus or unsharp. (Could be my monitor though).

doesnt look very sharp. I think if you did a replace color and made the image have warmer looking water (blue water, like the keys or hawaii) it would make it much better.

2 things. First I would actually like to see a little more eye contact from the model. I too am a little lost with the cold feeling of the water. I guess because she is lit by the nice warm glow of the sun and the water has no lighting on it. Secondly, why are you sitting here typing to us when you have this gorgeous model willing to pose for you. Now step away from the computer, and go take about 200 (at least) more shots of her. Go on. =)

The model to me looked a little soft and the ocean is too clear,,,any way to soften the back ground and sharpen up the model just a little. I like the composition I think it's right on. Did you try converting to B&W,,,could be very good
