I am not the best at these kind of shots (well any kind really :p). Feed back please

I had to tight crop cause it was surrounded with junk (I use LR and I have a hard time cloning out things (hence the right side of the truck)

Just not sure how to edit to make interesting.

The truck might benefit from close shots of interesting parts like rust patterns. The church highlights are blown out so you can't see the interesting textures that result from age.

Thanks J Michael for your feed back. It is blown out..I wonder if I put a different edit on it , if it would look better.

Did you shoot in raw? I'm curious what the originals looked like.

I think both have potential depending on the information captured in the original file.

If these are just a straight conversion of raw to jpeg with no adjustments then it looks like you can bring back quite a bit of detail in the church. Like Michael suggested a closer crop on the truck. I would also crop some on the church.

It depends on what you like as it is your image. On the church I played around and thought that I would loose the majority of the sky and about half of the foreground. This seemed to make the church more of a focal point against the trees. On the truck, tighter to the grill area maybe.

Sent you a PM.

Since you say there was more junk around the truck, return at night put a light inside truck and compose so that you have it from ground up so the entire truck is in the frame, it could be very interesting and dramatic.
Maybe two more lights inside of hood, one for each headlight..

Approach the owners of the truck and tell that what you would hope to go and offer them a copy of the print that you want to make. As long as you ask permission a lot of people are willing to let you have access. This one would be great as described with a gelled flash in the front seat. You could also light paint with a flashlight on the outside to get some of the interesting stuff while ignoring the distractions.

I think you have a great eye for composition, just think of trying to find the cool little things that draw you in.
And for the church, definitely see if you can drop the highlights to recover some of the blown out are in the front. If not, get closer to the front and get the door/windows and focus on making them the stars of the show.

It can be better to crop in on details that still give impression of what the subject is.
Or pull away and have a more landscapish crop.
Truck has lots of potential. Try zooming in on different bits.
