Looking forward to my trip there in two weeks. Even though the main purpose of the trip is to meet my newborn grandsons (twins!), I hope I will find time to do some shooting, so the 6D plus the 24-105 will be in the bag.

Funny, I'm going to be there to see the photography exhibit at the Grand Palais, beginning 12 Nov. Then I'm off to Bulgaria on the 18th for 10 days.

Back a few trips, I think early last year, I was walking pass Pompidou Centre and there was an exhibition by Henri Cartier-Bresson. I walked in, but line was for over an hour and a half just to get to the door, and another hour to the actual exhibition. I did not have that time, and I am still sorry that I missed it.

My son and I were in Luxembourg one day while he was on leave from his post in Germany and came across an exhibit for Cartier-Bresson. Except for a nice young lady representing the gallery, we were the only people browsing the images.

That was a bust. My wife got sick and asked me to cancel my trip--then I came down with a bad cold before the trip was to begin. Not only would I have been miserably sick in Paris, but I would have been in the middle of all that turmoil. Just as well, I suppose, that I stayed home.

Hope everything was ok while you were there in Paris!

Thanks. First, I left Boston for Moscow with a change of planes in Paris, and it happened just a couple of hours after the shooting and the explosions in the city. It was a mess at CDG when we landed. Fortunately, my family was a fair distance away from the terrorists.

I am in Paris right now, arrived yesterday. The city seems calm, except there are a lot of police around. They check license plates against databases (I witness it once), and in general they patrol the streets. People are in cafes and restaurants. I was told that many attractions were closed, but I have not checked this info. We went to Opera Bastille last night for a great performance of L'elixir Amore (not sure about spelling), and the theater was full.

Since the main reason for being here is to meet my newborn grandsons (yes, twins!) and help, I do not have much free time for photography, but I will try to post something when I am back in Boston.
