Trying to help out a friend who at the T5i. When she presses the shutter she gets auto-focus lock but the shutter will not release. Sometimes it will release as normal, sometimes a substantial delay (5 seconds) and sometimes not at all. This happens in any of the automatic modes I tried (P, landscape, sports) in QuikMode and in any conditon, outdoor, indoors. Does not appear to be the focus delaying it as it focuses as normal and I get the lock beep. Shutter just will not release. Any ideas I am missing?

I don't have any answers to what the problem might be, but if it were me I'd go into the menu and tell the camera to reset to default settings.

Sounds like Mirror lock up is a definite possibility. What's it like in Av, TV and M? Have you tried them?

I have recommended she reset it to factory settings. If that does not fix it, then a call to Canon is next. Thanks for your input.
