.

I'm posting this set to illustrate the difference between an "in the background" shot, and one without a subject in the background.

I find that having the background deer makes for a more interesting image overall. However, when one only has to focus (pun not intended) on one subject, you can pay a little more attention to the precise angle at which he turns his head, when he gets a slightly different expression in his eyes, the positioning of each one of his ears, precise framing, etc . . . .which gives a bit of a better portrait. But it's not about which is a better image - it's about getting both of them, as well as any other potential images which present themselves.

After taking the first image, the little yearling came along a few seconds later. The images were taken 12 seconds apart.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

At the NC Zoo this past weekend and while taking pictures of the elephants I noticed this grey fox in the background.
