Newbie question on what is a mount?

hi when you buy a strobe it has its own mount type? And the softbox you buy has to have the sane matching mount on the softbox? Is that right?

For instance the flashpoint Rovelight has a bowens mount. So does that mean any modifier bought that has a bowens mount will fit that light?

Yes. Flashpoint does make their own mount, but they also make some lights with bowens mount.

Some softboxes/modifiers can be adapted to different mounts. In general you want to decide in advance what mount type you want to start buying and stick with it.

When you buy a STUDIO FLASH it usually has a 'mount' for attaching light modifiers to the flash...softboxes, shoots, barn doors, etc.
