Help! I need to lighten my kit. Yes, I am one of those that said I'll go this direction in my photography then I changed my mind again and again. I went in full board, upgraded from a 30D to a 5Dlll with 24-105, 70-200IS V2, 600EX-RTs, ST-E3-RT, Manfrotto 1052BAC's, soft boxes, modifiers and this and that in accessories. Health issues are kicking in from back issues to good old arthritis. I like the aspect of full frame, I want to build a small kit for travel with one to two lenses tops with a flash. I'm not sure where to begin to look. Any low light needs would be public aquariums so a lens to cover that and the flash for indoor purposes. I'm more into walking and light hiking so something on the wide side for scenery. I'm not into macro but I do like visiting botanical gardens. Based on megapixels the largest I ever print is 11x14 on the maximum side so if this helps in the search to reduce size I'm tossing it out there. Thank you in advance!

A few of my friends are more than happy with the Sony A7 series, i.e. A7r, A7s and most recently the A7 II. Lighter, FF and very good at what it does, quality is outstanding. I had spinal fusion and about a month ago I had a meniscus tear repaired and my friends wanted me to go lighter. I do have a Sony A6000 which is an absolute performer. All that said, I'm not ready to give up my gear...yet.

My suggestion is if you're going to commit, look at mirrorless. The options are pretty wide at this point and the performance doesn't disappoint and the weight is probably right where you would be comfortable with.

^^^ This - the 24-70 f/4 IS and 70-200 f/4 IS will make for a significantly lighter load than the 24-105 and 70-200 2.8 IS (about 1-3/4 lb.). Then pick up a lighter "travel" flash instead of the 600RT, maybe the 430 or 320 (which latter has an available LED so it can light things up for video too).
