I've been looking into these 3 14mm 2.8 EF mount lenses. From what I've read it is largely held that they are pretty much identical. I noticed however that the description of the Bower differs from the other 2 in that it states (taken from B&H):

'* Note: Though this lens will cover the imaging sensor of a full-frame DSLR, it is better optimized for use with DSLRs containing smaller APS-C format sensors. As such you might notice softer focus and some light fall-off towards the edges of the frame when using a full-frame DSLR. If you do plan on using this lens with a full-frame DSLR we recommend you set the lens no wider (faster) than f/8 for optimum image quality'

This is the only one of the three to have this disclaimer so is it in fact different from the other two? Any opinions?

Thanks!

I've owned bower and rokinon. The bower actually says fisheye on the box. Same lenses, neither have any apparent decentering, both similar in sharpness and mustache distortion. I kept the rokinon because it was used in the field less.

The Bower version is on sale B&H for 259$. I've read a couple of reports that people are receiving the red ring version.

The one that Adorama is selling is the MC version. The version on B&H is the UMC. Via Wikid, the UMC version is newer and has some minor improvements.

Who knows though if there is a noticeable difference in photos. Not sure if the Bower on B&H is the UMC version as well.

What makes you think Adorama is selling the MC version?

The MC version was only made in 2009. By 2010 they changed the production to the UMC version. I seriously doubt anyone is selling a new MC version now.

More info on the MC and UMC versions here: http://www.lenstip.com …_IF_UMC_Introduction.html (external link)

After our test the producer decided to withdraw first specimens (MC versions) of that lens from the market and started to redesign it. It was announced that they intended to improve the work against bright light and to increase the quality of images at the frame edge (the resolution was supposed to increase by 15% there).

The first specimens of this lens’s new UMC version hit the shelves of our shops lately. The lens looks similar to the previous version but its name is slightly changed, including the UMC symbol - it means new coatings have been used.

I ordered the Bower from B&H about a month ago and received the red ring UMC version.
