So will probably be shooting some real estate soon and I am currently in the market to upgrade my canon 24-70 f/2.8 mkI that i recently sold. however, with the new upcoming adventure of real estate, should I think about getting a Tamron 24-70 vc and a Samyang 14 or Maybe consider just getting a 16-35. If the latter, which version would you suggest. I or II? We do shoot weddings as well so the 24-70 may be a necessity, just not sure how much the 16-35 would be used at weddings. However, I would like to get into Real estate fairly heavily.

I would go for the 16-35/4.0 L IS without a doubt. It is the best UWA out there (maybe the 11-24 is a little better).

I have had a 24-70 in the past but I sold it after getting a UWA and a 35 prime. I never missed the 24-70.
The 14mm is not a good choice imo. It has a lot of distortion and 14mm is often to wide.

16-35 f/4 has received a lot of love.

I can speak from experience that the 16-35 focal length is very useful for real estate photography. I use the MK II f/2.8L.

i was thinking i would go with the f/2.8 version of the 16-35 if i went that direction as it would double as an night sky lens as well. I will try to search out a mark II in good condition

Thanks all

The 16-35 f4IS IQ is better than the 2.8 Also look into rokinon 14mm f2.8 from adorama is $269 and EXCELLENT for that price

You didn't state if you have a full-frame or crop sensor camera. If you do have a crop camera, the EF-S 10-22mm lens is very nice.

I'm using a 6D and 16-35 f/4 L for real estate. I've never used the f/2.8 version but from everything I've read the f/4 is sharper in the corners.

great to know fordbjr.. I am leaning toward the f4 very heavily.. wish i could compare side by side with the tamron 15-30 f2.8 vc... the only downfall to that lens is not filter thread.
