Hi Guys.

I need some help, I have quite a big interest in portait photography.
I started out with a 60d and a 50f1.8 lens,to enable to shoot low light situation and because of the creative aspect of shooting with a fast lens.
I soon started to pick up on the art of compisition, reading some of scott kelby's books.
I did more research, anf got a 430 ex speedlite, and after some time I have been shooting it off camera, using a ST-E2 infrared transmitter.
Then at that stage I got some umbrelkas and light stands.
Then I got into some decent glass and currently have a Canon 70-200f2.8 IS.

Sorry for the intro.
Now my question is, how do I go about creating shooting opportunities?
The photography business is tough I get it.I really dont know how to apprach this.
In some way I want to shoot, but I dont want to take work away from a professional photographer!
I can't do photography free because it just wrong and people ussualy thinks there is some sort of catch. Although I have really used free photography to create some sort of a portfolio.
Free photography also have the negative feeling of low quality photos.
How do one with less experience get shooting opportunities without trying to take away bread and butter of the better photographers.
How can one create a portfolio and do portrait photography as a hobby?
Do I basicly need to do TFCD shoots or pay models for a shoot to create quality work for a portfolio?
Please help, I am not looking for a career in photography , I just really enjoy it and would like to get shooting a little more.
Please help me on this, can a amateur ask less for a photoshoot providing its quality work?

If you would like to see some of my work please pm me for a link.

Thank you.

Check Meet up.com for photography groups in your area. Many will have studio sessions set up that you can attend with other photographers to shoot models.
