So, I have recently had to change laptops and reinstall LR and PS. In LR (5.7) I was previously able to see and quickly filter images by flag (pick, reject, or unflagged). These flags showed up in the black bar, above the filmstrip, without me having to first choosing a filter from the filter choices to the right. The color labels showed the same way. I was able to quickly just click on a color to filter them. Note that this was not in the toolbar, or the filter menu that shows above the grid view. This was in the black bar, above the filmstrip, directly to the left of the filter choices.

Does anyone know how I can get these displayed again? It's driving me nuts having to constantly pick a filter from the menu when before I just clicked once on my flag choice. I've been through all my options and view menus (except obviously the one I need) and can't find it. Thanks in advance for any help.

Never mind... I think I've figured in out. I clicked on the various filter attributes in the filter bar, and it has placed them in the black bar. Then I turned off the filter bar and so far it has stuck. I swear I tried this already and it didn't work. But... yeah. Hopefully it will stick, and hopefully this will help somebody else.

OK so in case you and others don't realise you have created a custom filter and if you go one step further this can be saved as a filter preset. You don't need to save it if it is the only one you want but saving means that you can create and save multiple custom filters. Click on the arrows to the right of the filter bar and a menu will open. At the bottom it has "save current settings as new preset". It will now appear in that drop down menu and you can add further custom filter presets if you wish.

Thanks Dan. I did do that. I just don't remember doing all of that before (had previous laptop since LR3). I just thought it was some sort of option to view the filters that way. Obviously, though, I must have done all that on the old laptop. Of course, I can't remember what I was doing less than a minute ago, so this is nothing new. ;)
