I need some processing help from the gurus. I shot some Fuji Reala 120 ASA (ISO) 100, expired in 1994, and developed the roll myself (Unicolor C-41 kit). Film was fogged, but recoverable with some basic scan settings, but there is a green color cast that I just can't correct for the life of me.

I've successfully removed a red/magenta color cast from some Velvia that I mistakenly used for a practice portrait sitting by following the steps HERE (external link), which did a great job, so I tried it with the Reala, but it hasn't been as successful.

This was my first roll on this body, and I think there is a light leak on both sides of the back, which is what I think is causing the purplish hues on the sides. That may also be due to the age of the film. I'm working on a second roll now to determine if there are leaks. The point is, I'm not so worried about the purplish hue as much as the overall green cast.

Here are two samples, first being the 'base' negative, and the second is the best I've been able to come up with. I have LR5 and PS CS6. Can anyone get the colors better?

If a .tiff would help, let me know, I can send one.

Thanks.

If steroids are illegal for athletes, should PS be illegal for models?

Here's a shot using a curves adjustment layer in PS. Here is a link to the saved curve (preset):

I had to guess at the colors, especially the hair, and how the film look would treat those. Also, the top of her hair is partially in the magenta cast as well, throwing things off a little.

I used 4 color sampler points (see screenshot) to guide my guess. The ends of the hair still look a little greenish, but i do not know how much. Maybe this will get you closer to a better starting point, or toward the look you are going for.

But wait a minute, people pay lots of money to emulate that look with plugins, actions and presets for
their digital images! .....note: This is not a serious comment!:-)

Both edits look good to me though!

Thanks Kirk! That gets me off in the right direction. I'll be tweaking it (and others) over the next few days using your adjustments.

Here's another edit using tools in an external program to create a 3dLUT. Photoshop can load LUTs as an adjustment layer. Photoshop CC2014 can export a stack of adjustment layers as a LUT in various formats.

Here is a link to a ZIP archive containing the LUT in 3DL format as well as an ICC profile -

https://www.dropbox.com …orCastCOrretLUTs.zip?dl=0 (external link)

in either case, you load the LUT in Photoshop with the Color Lookup adjustment layer. For the 3DL version click on the "3D LUT File" checkbox and navigate to the 3DL file; for the ICC version, click on the Device Link button and navigate to the ICC version.

Again, same issues, but maybe this might be a more flexible correction format.
