This is what I use on my 5d3 and it's pretty nice. With a 35mm or wider lens attached, I'm able to go handheld without much camera shake, and it mounts on really solid. That could be a good thing or bad thing though. The Zacuto models allow you to pop it on and off without needing to screw anything, which I sometimes find myself wishing this one did. At the same time though there's no chance of accidentally knocking this off, and it flips up if you want to look at the screen without the loupe. It's not REALLY a big deal though, the screw is quick and easy, and I'm just always in a hurry with things.

Build quality is good, except the screws on the brackets are all soft aluminum and you will easily strip the head if you torque it down too hard with an allen wrench. I hand tightened everything, and once you have the settings just right for your camera, you can lightly torque it down with an allen wrench and pretty much just leave it as is. Forever. For the 5d3 and the 1Dx, I'd recommend getting two of them, one for each, so you don't have to re-adjust the settings every time you switch cameras. The plastic body feels tough, kind of like a pelican or gator case, and the rubber eyepiece is soft, flexible, and very comfortable pressed up against my face.

Oh one other caveat is the diopter. There's an aluminum ring that you turn to adjust the diopter, and this part feels a bit flimsy and loose. It works fine though. Also, as you adjust the diopter there is a vignetting that happens that may or may not bother you. It looks like a tunnel that's closing in, cutting off the corners of the frame. However if you have good eyesight or wear contacts/glasses while shooting, you probably won't even have to adjust the diopter anyway.

For just a little over $100 I think it's a pretty awesome tool and a good bargain.

If money is not an issue, and real quality is all that matters, then I guess there's really no other place to look than Zacuto.
