I recently sold my Induro AT413 tripod. Great piece of gear. Solid. But HUGE! So I sold it to a friend and purchased the AT214 with the proceeds. I received it today.

When I fully collapse the tripod, and lock down all the legs, one or two of the leg sections don't seem 100% secure. If I pull on the leg as hard as I can, it will pull loose even though it is supposedly locked. I have to pull pretty hard.

I put my ball head, camera and heaviest lens on it, and it didn't move. I tried to pull it down on each leg to see if I could make it collapse and it wouldn't. I am about 99% sure it will be ok, but thought I'd ask. It has an incredible 5 year (+5 more with registration) warranty, so I am not too concerned about it.

Thoughts?

I have that tripod and love it. It takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. If you feel doubtful of it send it back for an exchange.

Thanks for the vote of confidence on the tripod. I think I figured it out. There was a bit of grease/oil on the leg section that was cause it to have trouble locking down. Also, if the leg lock above isn't secured all the way, it prevents the lower leg lock from locking completely.

I am hugely impressed with Induro. I have had the AT413 with the BHD2 head, and now the AT214 with the BHD1 head. Both setups were rock solid and included features I would not have expected at this price point. Highly recommend this brand to anyone who comes across this thread.

They have an excellent warranty. I've had to send mine in after it was my fault (sandy Grand Canyon - couldn't extend one of the legs), and they fixed it free of charge for me - and even cleaned it.

I'd send it in just to have it checked out. You don't want your gear flipping.
